COURSE INFORMATION

Beginner level

Beginner 1 (Absolute Beginner):
  • Introducing yourself and familiarising with other people
  • How to order food at restaurants and bars (& how make complaints!)
  • Talking about your country and your daily routine (work, hobbies)
  • Grammatically, you will be learn to recognize and use articles and verbs in the present tense.
  • Teaching will be in both a traditional and communicative way.

Beginner 2:
The 10 week course starts from a revision and consolidation of the material studied in the previous term and will move on to:
  • Planning trips (talk about the local geography, book a hotel room) and ask for information
  • Irregular verbs in the present
  • Passato prossimo (Present Perfect)
  • Talking about past events and holidays
  • Talking about basic personal and family information

Beginner 3:
The 10 week course starts from a revision and consolidation of the material studied in the previous term and will move on to:
  • Talking about daily routine and work
  • Reflexive verbs
  • Irregualar verbs in the past
  • Shopping
  • Direct pronouns

5 or 10 week courses
1 lesson per week
1½ hours per lesson


Intermediate level

Intermediate 1:
The course starts with a revision and consolidation of the material studied in the previous term (present, past) and will move on to:
  • Introduction of the Imperfect Tense (another form of past in Italian)
  • Contrast between the Present Perfect and Imperfect
  • Future Tense
  • More difficult "Survival Kit" and daily situation study cases and role-play
  • Structures and language to have general and simple conversations with native speakers will be taught.
  • You will start expressing your viewpoints on basic topical issues.

Intermediate 2:
  • Conditional tense & pronouns
  • Describing houses & Italian life
  • Expressing wishes, dislikes & annoyances
  • Making social arrangements<
5 or 10 week courses
1 lesson per week
Classes are either 1½ hours or 2 hours per lesson

Advanced level+

Advanced level:
  • Introduction of Subjunctive tense, Phrasal verbs
  • Authentic reaing from newspapers, magazines, interviews and films

Classes are either 1½ hours, 2 hours or 2½ hours per lesson (refer to individual course)

Intensive courses

Regular Intensive:
These are full immersion classes, for 4 hours a day.

They are designed for students who have previously studied some Italian and wish to refresh or simply practise before the regular courses start in the new term. They can also be used as a stand-alone for students who want an intensive course in Italian over a short period.

Italian through Art:
Visit to National Gallery or Estoric Collection or V&A
Practise your Italian, listening and talking about the most famous Italian artists. You will be using your verbs whilst discovering Italian Art.

Know Italy & the Italians:
We turn the spotlight onto 3 different Italian regions of Central, Northern & Southern Italy, exploring their geography, food and wine, traditions, music and more.

Italian Cinema & Theatre:
A fantastic way to work on your listening and oral abilities, and learn more about the great Italian directors and actors.

Italian on Foot:
Practise in the most natural way possible. One hour of this 1½ hour session will be spent talking in Italian with your teacher, whilst you stop in front of shops, in museums, and of course at an Italian bar where you carry on conversing over a coffee. What's better than this?

Grammar Workshop:
If you feel you could benefit from concentrating on Italian grammar, this course can put the finishing touches to your spoken and written skills. Learn how to avoid errors, improve your spelling and raise your overall level of communication.

Italian through Cookery:
Learn the Italian language as well as authentic Italian recipes that you will prepare and sample as part of the course.

Courses normally consist of 1 session per week over a 7 week period, and are run in Guildford and Central London.

Private tuition

Private (1-to-1 or small group) tuition allows you greater flexibility in learning and can more easily focus on the areas of interest or importance to you. For example:

  • Law
  • Moving to Italy
  • Business

Our tutors can come to your office or home.

Course fees: At your home or office:

  • 1 Student: £:42 p.h.
  • 2-3 Students: £:47 p.h.
  • All tuition subject to a minimum 1½ hours per lesson unless otherwise agreed

NOTE: Prices above include the tutor's travel expenses within London Zone 1 during off-peak hours.
If you require tuition in Zones 2+ or outside the London travel zones, and/or the tutor has to travel during peak hours, we will be happy to quote for this.

GCSE, IGCSE, Baccalaureate


We can offer private one-to-one tuition to your son or daughter to prepare them for their Italian GCSE. We have experience with both the AQA and EDEXCEL curricula and aim to help your child achieve a top grade. We can also offer specialist tuition for the Italian IGCSE and Italian Baccalaureate.

Tuition is on a one-to-one basis, and the lessons can all be face-to-face or a combination of this and Skype video lessons.
